An Aggressive Campaign against Drivers

Kreps Law Firm, LLC is well aware of how Alabama residents and out-of-state drivers are targeted by state traffic enforcement. In 2007, the Alabama Department of Public Safety began the Take Back Our Highways Campaign.

For one week each in August and November 2007, almost every available Alabama state trooper (whether patrol or not) was assigned to patrol Alabama's highways. Approximately 200 additional officers who normally were assigned to other duties were also assigned to patrol state highways.

The Campaign's Results

During the week of August 13-17, 2007, Alabama state troopers and other officers wrote 26,126 traffic tickets. The number of speeding and traffic tickets written during this same week in 2006 was only 5,932.

Alabama residents and out-of-state drivers need to know that the Alabama Department of Public Safety plans to continue these Take Back Our Highways campaigns and traffic blitzes throughout 2008 and beyond.

If you received a traffic ticket during a Take Back Our Highways Campaign week, you have several options for fighting a speeding ticket, reckless driving citation, and any other type of moving violation. To learn how Kreps Law Firm can help you fight a traffic citation — often right over the phone without a need for you to travel to our offices or make a court appearance — call us today.
